Sethembile Magubane first became a Mentor in 2003 when Felicity trained teachers from 7 schools in the Estcourt area to run Dancing Pencils Writing Clubs.

  • Sethembile ran a Dancing Pencils Writing Club at Emmashini Primary in Estcourt . She also ran a private club she called Bubbles Dancing Pencils Writing Club.
  • Both the school and her private club annually published anthologies and stand alone books.
  • In her private club, amongst the great young authors she helped to develop was her own son Khulekani, today a journalist and children’s author and often a guest on TV shows.
  • Sethembile was interviewed by the SABC crew and appeared on national TV in an instalment of “Mother of All Professions” . The question they asked was, what benefits had she noticed from her child being a member of a Dancing Pencils Writing Club.
  • Sethembile has written a number of books herself and now runs a Dancing Pencils Writing Club at Drakensview Primary in Estcourt.
  • The members of this club are all Girl Guides and have published two anthologies.
  • She recently received a 9 years award from the Office of the Premier for her work as a Mentor.
  • Her current school, Drakensview Primary, now is organising a right brain training for 30 of their teachers and other local interested teachers.
  • This will take place in March 2013.
